Irv Williams passed away in his hometown Saint Paul on December 14th aged 100. The jazz saxophonist had world-class talent. Some of the biggest names in jazz tried to convince him to join their bands or go on tour with them, but Irv preferred to stay in the Twin Cities.

Megabien had the pleasure to work with this legendary musician and true Minnesota icon on several productions, such as on a TV-interview, the megabien TV-coproduction with the German TV "Funkytown" or the artwork of his last album "Pinnacle" designed by megabien’s Monika Hurka.

His never ending sense of humour, his countless stories and jokes will stay in our memories. His own, very special, warm sounding saxophone playing got him the name "Mr. Smooth" he deserved so well. The Twin Cities are loosing another, legendary artist who enriched its musical scene for many decades. So long, Mr. Smooth, you leave us behind with great sadness.
